Kitchen & bespoke joinery spraying

A careful process for a beautiful finish.

From the first surface check to the final refit, each stage is planned around the material, existing finish and the home we’re working in. Here’s how we approach a kitchen or fitted joinery spray project.

The process

From preparation to final checks.

We agree the work and finish with you before starting, then follow a controlled sequence designed to protect your home and prepare each surface properly.

01

Assess the surfaces

We review the cabinet or joinery material, its current coating and condition, along with the areas included in the project. This helps us plan suitable preparation, primers and finishing products.

02

Protect and contain

We protect nearby floors, worktops, appliances and surfaces, masking walls and ceilings where needed. The working area is enclosed with protective sheeting, with adjacent areas isolated where appropriate.

  • Professional extraction helps control airborne overspray.
  • The extraction fan vents through filtered ducting to the outside.
  • An air scrubber filters airborne particles inside the work area.
03

Remove and label components

Doors, drawer fronts, handles, hinges, shelves and other removable parts are carefully taken down. Components and fittings are labelled and stored in marked groups so they can return to their original positions.

04

Clean, prepare and repair

Surfaces are cleaned and degreased, then allowed to dry fully. Existing sound coatings are sanded to create a consistent key. Dust is vacuumed away, and minor chips or imperfections are filled, sanded flush and cleaned again.

05

Apply the selected coating system

Prepared surfaces are primed and spray finished using products selected to suit the substrate and existing coating. We observe the appropriate application, drying and recoat guidance for the products used on the project.

06

Inspect, cure and refit

Components are checked for coverage, sheen consistency, contamination and overall finish quality. Once ready in line with the coating guidance, labelled parts are carefully refitted, hinges aligned and cabinet operation checked.

07

Clear the area and hand over

Protection and containment are removed, the area is cleaned, and waste is taken away. We leave the kitchen or joinery tidy and explain any care guidance relevant to the finish.

Coating system

Specified for the surface and the finish.

For kitchen cabinets and bespoke joinery, we use Sayerlack Italian wood coatings in a 1K waterborne system. The primer and topcoat are selected for the substrate and existing finish. We follow each product’s technical guidance for preparation, application and recoat times, then provide product-specific cure and care instructions at handover.

Beyond the kitchen

The same care for bespoke joinery.

Fitted wardrobes, media walls, alcove units, shelving and other made-to-measure woodwork each bring different surfaces, edges and access considerations. We assess the piece first and adapt masking, preparation and spraying to suit the job.

Where components can be removed, we label and protect them for refitting. Fixed joinery is carefully masked and sprayed within the contained work area.

  • Fitted wardrobes and bedroom furniture
  • Media walls and entertainment units
  • Alcove cabinets and shelving
  • Doors, panels and other interior joinery
